Theatre Clubs at Zürich International School (ZIS)

Two after-school theatre clubs for children at ZIS Wädenswil: Kindergarten–Grade 2 on Tuesdays and Grades 3–5 on Mondays.

Winter and Spring 2026/27 are booked together. This gives each group time to get to know one another and create something over several months.

Registration: Thursday 22 October to Sunday 8 November 2026.

Kindergarten – Grade 2

15:20–16:20 · 24 November 2026–18 May 2027
18 weekly sessions · CHF 450 · 8–15 children

A short performance at school during the school day.

Grades 3–5

15:20–16:20 · 23 November 2026–25 May 2027
17 weekly sessions plus four required dates in May · CHF 750 · 8–15 children

Performance at SeesichtTheater in Wädenswil on 25 May 2027.

Kindergarten – Grade 2 · Tuesdays

Through stories, movement, music and role-play, children practise expressing what they want, trusting their ideas and creating with others.

At the end of the season, the group will perform a short story for an audience at school, during the school day. The children will choose a familiar story or invent one together. The story will develop during the sessions, so there are no lines to learn at home. Children can take part in different ways; no one will be pushed into a role they do not want.

The school will confirm the performance date. It will take place during the school day, so families do not need to keep an evening free. CHF 450 covers the 18 weekly sessions and all materials. The invoice will be sent in April 2027.

Grades 3–5 | Mondays

The group will create and perform its own piece inspired by One Thousand and One Nights. The children will develop scenes, characters and dialogue, including scenes inspired by Ali Baba and the fisherman who finds a djinn. The framing story is set in the present day. There will be no finished script at the start; the piece will take shape in rehearsals. Some roles include lines to learn. No one is killed in this version.

The four May dates are required:

Monday, 17 May: full-day rehearsal at the theatre.
Sunday, 23 May: half-day rehearsal at the theatre.
Monday, 24 May: dress rehearsal at the theatre.
Tuesday, 25 May: performance day at SeesichtTheater.
Exact times will be confirmed. Families bring and collect their child on 17 and 23 May, and collect them from the theatre on 24 and 25 May. Please check the dates before registering; if one could be difficult, contact me first.

The CHF 750 fee includes the 17 weekly sessions, three theatre rehearsals and performance day; the theatre stage, lighting, sound and technical support; props and costumes where available; supervision and a meal for the children on performance day; and free admission for guests. There will be a voluntary collection. The invoice will be sent in April 2027 and is payable within 30 days.

A shorter performance for school classes on 25 May is possible but not yet confirmed. If it goes ahead, the group will perform twice that day and arrive earlier. It will not add another date or cost for families.

About me

I’m Julian Lehnhardt, an educator, ADHD coach and theatre practitioner. I have more than fifteen years’ experience working with children in Germany, Chile, Panama and Switzerland. My work combines play-based dramatic work (jeux dramatiques) with theatre pedagogy. In July, I staged The Wizard of Oz with a group of children in Wollerau.

Your child will work directly with me. I work independently, rather than through a larger organisation
